Jesus Christ is one of the most influential figures in human history. His teachings have shaped the lives of millions of people around the world. However, there are many of Jesus' teachings that we choose to ignore. These teachings are often challenging and countercultural, and they can be difficult to put into practice. But if we are willing to follow Jesus' example, we will find that his teachings can transform our lives.

The Teachings of Jesus We Love to Ignore

Here are a few of the teachings of Jesus that we often choose to ignore:

Love your enemies. This is one of the most difficult teachings of Jesus to follow. After all, it's natural to want to hate those who have wronged us. But Jesus tells us that we must love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute us. (Matthew 5:44)

Do not judge others. We are all quick to judge others, but Jesus tells us that we should not judge others. He says that we should first remove the log from our own eye before we try to remove the speck from our brother's eye. (Matthew 7:1-5)

Give to the poor. Jesus tells us that we should give to the poor and needy. He says that whatever we do for the least of these, we do for him. (Matthew 25:40)

Forgive others. When someone wrongs us, it can be difficult to forgive them. But Jesus tells us that we must forgive others, if we want to be forgiven by God. (Matthew 6:14-15)

Be humble. Jesus tells us that we should be humble. He says that whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. (Matthew 23:12)

How to Apply Jesus' Teachings to Our Lives

It can be difficult to follow Jesus' teachings, but it is possible. Here are a few tips:

Start small. Don't try to change your whole life overnight. Just start by focusing on one or two of Jesus' teachings. Once you have mastered those, you can move on to others.

Be patient. It takes time to change our behavior. Don't get discouraged if you don't see results immediately. Just keep at it, and eventually you will see progress.

Pray for help. Ask God to help you follow Jesus' teachings. He will give you the strength and guidance you need.

The teachings of Jesus are challenging, but they are also life-changing. If we are willing to follow his example, we will find that our lives will be transformed. We will become more loving, more compassionate, and more humble. We will also find peace and joy in our hearts.

So let us not ignore the teachings of Jesus. Let us embrace them and allow them to transform our lives.

Additional Resources

Matthew 5:44

Matthew 7:1-5

Matthew 25:40

Matthew 6:14-15

Matthew 23:12
