Sir Robert Falconer was a Scottish-born Canadian educator and social reformer. He served as the president of the University of Toronto from 1906 to 1932, and was a leading figure in the development of higher education in Canada.

Falconer was born in Forres, Scotland, in 1867. He studied at the University of Aberdeen and the University of Edinburgh, and was ordained as a minister in the Church of Scotland in 1892. He served as a pastor in Scotland and England before coming to Canada in 1900.

In Canada, Falconer became involved in the field of education. He served as the principal of Pine Hill Divinity Hall in Montreal from 1900 to 1906, and as the president of the University of Toronto from 1906 to 1932.

As president of the University of Toronto, Falconer oversaw a period of significant growth and development. He established new programs and departments, including the School of Social Work, the School of Nursing, and the Institute of Child Study. He also expanded the university's library and physical plant.

In addition to his work at the University of Toronto, Falconer was also active in social reform. He was a member of the Royal Commission on Industrial Relations, and served as the chairman of the National Committee for Mental Hygiene. He was also a strong advocate for the rights of women and minorities.

Falconer was knighted in 1917 for his contributions to education and social reform. He died in Toronto in 1943.

Sir Robert Falconer's legacy continues to inspire educators and reformers today. His work helped to shape the Canadian education system, and his commitment to social justice remains an important model for all who work to make the world a better place.
