Rockwell was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University in 1966 with a degree in economics. After graduating, he worked as a financial analyst for a major bank in New York City. In 1971, he left the bank to pursue a career in writing and activism.

Rockwell's first book, The Left and Right: The Prospects for Liberty, was published in 1980. The book argues that the left and right are both statist ideologies and that only libertarianism offers a true path to freedom. Rockwell has since written or edited over 20 books, including Fascism vs. Capitalism, The Spirit of Liberty, and Against the State.

In 1982, Rockwell founded the Ludwig von Mises Institute. The institute is named after the Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises, who Rockwell considers to be the father of modern libertarianism. The Mises Institute is a non-profit think tank that promotes the ideas of classical liberalism and free markets.

In addition to his work at the Mises Institute, Rockwell has also been a regular columnist for various publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and The American Spectator. He has also appeared on numerous television and radio shows, including The O'Reilly Factor, The Colbert Report, and The Daily Show.

Rockwell is a controversial figure, but there is no doubt that he is one of the most influential libertarians in the world. His writings and activism have helped to spread the ideas of liberty around the world.

Rockwell's Philosophy

Rockwell's philosophy is based on the ideas of classical liberalism and free markets. He believes that the individual should be free to live his or her life as he or she sees fit, without government interference. He also believes that the free market is the best way to allocate resources and create economic growth.

Rockwell is a strong critic of government intervention in the economy. He believes that government regulations and taxes stifle economic growth and lead to poverty. He also believes that government welfare programs create dependency and undermine individual responsibility.

Rockwell is a proponent of the gold standard. He believes that the gold standard is the best way to prevent inflation and ensure the stability of the monetary system.

Rockwell is also a strong critic of the foreign policy of the United States. He believes that the United States should adopt a non-interventionist foreign policy and focus on its own domestic affairs.

Rockwell's Legacy

Rockwell's legacy is likely to be debated for years to come. Some people will remember him as a brilliant thinker and a tireless advocate for liberty. Others will remember him as a controversial figure who often said outrageous things.

Regardless of how he is remembered, there is no doubt that Rockwell has been a major force in the libertarian movement. His writings and activism have helped to spread the ideas of liberty around the world.
