Early Life

Enda Walsh was born on 17 October 1967 in Dublin, Ireland. He grew up in a working-class family in the suburb of Finglas. Walsh has spoken about the influence of his childhood on his work, particularly the sense of community and the struggles faced by those around him.

Education and Career

Walsh studied drama at Trinity College Dublin. After graduating, he worked as a teacher and a journalist before turning to playwriting full-time. Walsh's first play, "Disco Pigs," was produced in 1996 and was a critical and commercial success.

Since then, Walsh has written over 20 plays, including "Once," "Hunger," "Love Lies Bleeding," and "The Snowman." His plays have been translated into over 20 languages and have been performed in theaters around the world.

Personal Life

Walsh is married to the actress Ruth Negga. They have two children together.
