Eaton Hall is a beautiful and historic mansion located in King Township, Ontario, Canada. Built in the early 1900s, it was once the home of Timothy Eaton, the founder of the Eaton's department store chain. Today, Eaton Hall is a popular tourist destination and event venue, and it is also home to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.

History of Eaton Hall

Eaton Hall was built between 1907 and 1910 for Timothy Eaton, the founder of the Eaton's department store chain. Eaton was one of the richest men in Canada at the time, and he wanted to build a home that would reflect his wealth and status. The mansion was designed by the architectural firm of Carrère and Hastings, and it was built in the Georgian Revival style. The home features 50 rooms, including 12 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and a ballroom. It is also surrounded by 60 acres of land, which includes gardens, fountains, and a reflecting pool.

Eaton and his family lived in the mansion until his death in 1932. After his death, the home was sold to the Government of Canada. The government used the home as a military hospital during World War II, and then as a veterans' hospital until 1967. In 1967, the home was designated a National Historic Site of Canada.

Eaton Hall Today

Today, Eaton Hall is a popular tourist destination and event venue. The home is open to the public for tours, and it is also available for rent for weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions. The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is also housed in the mansion, and it features a collection of over 6,000 works of Canadian art.

Visiting Eaton Hall

Eaton Hall is located at 2345 Stanley Avenue in King Township, Ontario. The home is open to the public for tours from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
