Benazir Bhutto was a Pakistani politician who served as the 11th Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1996. During her first term as Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto faced a number of challenges, including a hostile opposition and a difficult economic situation. However, she also achieved a number of successes, including the of a number of social and economic reforms.

In 1990, Benazir Bhutto was dismissed from office by President Ghulam Ishaq Khan. She was then arrested and charged with corruption. However, she was acquitted of all charges in 1993 and was re-elected as Prime Minister.

During her second term as Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto continued to face a number of challenges. She was also criticized for her handling of the economy and for her alleged involvement in corruption. In 1996, she was again dismissed from office by President Farooq Leghari.

Exile and Return

After being dismissed from office, Benazir Bhutto went into exile in Dubai. She returned to Pakistan in 2007 and was assassinated in a suicide bombing in Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007.

Legacy

Benazir Bhutto was a complex and controversial figure. She was a strong advocate for democracy and for the rights of women. However, she was also criticized for her authoritarian tendencies and for her alleged involvement in corruption.
