Ichiro was born in Kasugai, Aichi, Japan, on October 22, 1973. He began playing baseball at a young age and quickly developed a reputation as a gifted hitter and fielder. In 1992, he was signed by the Orix BlueWave of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league. He spent nine seasons with the BlueWave, winning two batting titles and two stolen base titles. He also helped the team win the Japan Series championship in 1995.

In 2001, Ichiro signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball (MLB). He quickly became one of the most popular players in the league, known for his unique batting stance and his ability to hit for average and power. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2001 and was named to the All-Star team every year from 2001 to 2010. He also won two batting titles and two stolen base titles during his time with the Mariners.

In 2012, Ichiro was traded to the New York Yankees. He spent three seasons with the Yankees, helping the team win the World Series championship in 2013. In 2015, he was traded to the Miami Marlins. He spent two seasons with the Marlins before retiring in 2016.
